3 Ways to Grow Your Business

Words from Warren, Chonkasaurus, & a beer-power motorcycle

I was reminded of this gem from Jay Abraham while reviewing some of my old class notes:

There are 3 ways to grow your business:

  1. Increase your number of clients

  2. Increase your average transaction value (profit)

  3. Increase the frequency of purchasing

And #2 and #3 are the most overlooked.

For us consulting types, #2 reminds us that the key to raising our prices is providing more value. And #3 reminds us that selling to an existing client is always cheaper than landing a new one.

Landing new clients is always fun, but make sure your marketing also delivers value (in the client’s eyes) and retention.

Enjoy this week’s finds.

Earlier this month, Berkshire Hathaway held their annual meeting. Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger always have something interesting to share at these meetings. Here are a few from this year’s meeting:

  • “Cash is not trash”

  • “Elon Musk overestimates himself, but he’s still talented”

  • “I know where Apple is going to be in 5 or 10 years, but not car companies”
